Edged opens new ultra-efficient data centre in Irving

Today

Edged has recently announced the opening of its new data centre in Irving, Texas, which promises ultra-efficient operations with zero water cooling and reduced energy consumption.

The facility is the latest addition to Edged's data centre portfolio and is located at 505 North Wildwood Drive, offering 24 MW of critical capacity designed for high-density Artificial Intelligence workloads. It is notably optimised for energy and water efficiency, a feature highlighted during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The event featured attendance from Mayor Rick Stopfer, along with city and Dallas County officials, members of the economic development community, local utilities, and key project partners.

Mayor Stopfer acknowledged the significant investment made by Edged in Irving, stating, "I want to thank the Edged team for their investment in Irving and recognition of our city as a strategic location for the rapidly emerging class of critical infrastructure that data centres provide. The collaborative relationship between our city's public and private sectors, our community's skilled workforce and our excellent quality of life continue to attract leading businesses like Edged, which play a significant role in our city and region's continued growth and success."

Beth A. Bowman, President & CEO of the Greater-Irving Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, expressed the community's welcome to Edged, saying, "On behalf of our member-investors and Board of Directors, I want to welcome Edged home to Irving. The new data centre reflects the importance of Irving's ability to meet the needs of our target industries and the value that our city's dynamic, pro-business mindset, regional connectivity and global accessibility offer companies. We are proud that Edged has selected Irving as its tech hub that will provide instrumental data infrastructure for companies throughout North Texas and beyond."

Edged Dallas distinguishes itself from conventional data centres by its introduction of the ThermalWorks waterless cooling system, potentially saving approximately 95 million gallons of water annually. It operates with 74% less energy overhead compared to traditional facilities and supports ultra-high densities of up to 200 kW per rack. The data centre achieves an impressive average Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15 across its portfolio.

Chief Executive Officer for Edged, Bryant Farland, highlighted the collaborative and sustainable efforts involved in establishing the new data centre, stating, "We sincerely thank the Irving Economic Development Partnership (IEDP) and the City of Irving for their outstanding partnership and shared dedication to innovation and sustainability. Together, we have transformed an underutilized site into a state-of-the-art IT facility that not only benefits the community but also conserves precious local water and energy resources. We are proud to support Irving's dynamic and growing digital economy with groundbreaking technologies that promote environmental stewardship and drive meaningful positive change."

This new facility in Irving is part of Edged's broader strategy to expand its network across the United States, with centres currently operational or under development in cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Columbus, and Phoenix. A subsidiary of Endeavour, Edged is part of a larger initiative focusing on sustainable infrastructure development across Europe and North America.
