Güntner names Yan Evans to lead global data centre

Fri, 24th Apr 2026 (Today)

Güntner Group has appointed Yan Evans as Managing Director, Global Data Centre Business, bringing its data centre activities under a single leadership structure.

Evans joins from FläktGroup, where he led the company's global data centre operations from 2018 to 2025. In his new role, he will oversee data centre activities across Güntner and JAEGGI.

The appointment reflects the growing importance of data centres for cooling equipment suppliers as operators expand facilities to support cloud computing, artificial intelligence workloads and other digital infrastructure. Cooling systems are central to data centre design because they help manage energy use and keep equipment within required temperature ranges.

Market demand

At Güntner, Evans will work with regional leadership teams as the group expands its presence in major markets. The role is intended to align expertise across its brands and deepen relationships with data centre operators and hyperscale customers.

Evans is a Chartered Engineer with several years of experience in the HVAC sector. At FläktGroup, he oversaw the data centre business across EMEA, the Americas and Asia-Pacific.

Güntner specialises in heat exchange technology and supplies cooling products to sectors including data centres, food systems, energy and healthcare. The company employs more than 7,000 people in more than 50 countries.

Michael Bauer, Head of Global Sales, Growth, and Success at Güntner Group, said Evans was joining as the company increased its focus on the sector. "Data centers are a key and rapidly growing focus for Güntner Group, where we already have a strong and established position. As AI, cloud and critical infrastructure continue to scale, the sector needs partners who have a global manufacturing footprint and can scale to meet demand, while delivering performance, efficiency, and reliability.

"Yan brings deep sector expertise and a proven track record in this high-growth sector. His appointment strengthens our ability to support customers globally, build on our existing relationships and expand into strategically important markets," said Bauer.

Industry pressure

The hire comes as cooling and air management suppliers compete for a larger share of spending tied to data centre construction. Demand has risen as operators add capacity in established hubs and newer regional markets, increasing pressure on manufacturers to deliver systems at larger scale and across multiple geographies.

Evans will lead Güntner's data centre activities across the group portfolio rather than within a single regional market, giving the position a broad remit over customer engagement and coordination between brands already active in the segment.

Commenting on his appointment, Evans said the group already had a substantial presence in the market. "Güntner Group has strong expertise in the data center space, with proven technologies, globally operating teams, and trusted customer relationships. With increasing focus on performance, energy efficiency and sustainability, there is a clear opportunity for Güntner Group to further build on this position, working closely with customers as their requirements grow in scale and complexity.

"I'm looking forward to working with colleagues across the Group to strengthen our offering for the next generation of data center infrastructure," added Evans.
