Concentric AI adds AWS GovCloud support for data security
Concentric AI has added AWS GovCloud (US) support to its Private Scan Manager in the Semantic Intelligence AI and data security governance platform.
The company said the change gives government agencies, contractors, partners, and other organisations a deployment option in isolated regions. It also referenced users of Microsoft 365 Government Community Cloud High. Concentric AI said these organisations often handle sensitive data and Controlled Unclassified Information subject to compliance requirements.
Concentric AI positioned the update as an extension of earlier work in private cloud environments. The company cited prior announcements that added support for content scanning and categorisation in Microsoft Azure and in AWS private cloud settings.
GovCloud focus
AWS GovCloud is a specialised cloud environment for workloads subject to US federal security requirements. The environment includes personnel controls. It also uses physically and logically isolated US sovereign regions.
Concentric AI listed compliance frameworks and standards associated with GovCloud. These included FedRAMP, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, and the US Department of Defence Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide. The company referenced Impact Levels 2, 4, and 5 for unclassified data.
Concentric AI said its Private Scan Manager for AWS GovCloud targets organisations with data that cannot leave on-premises environments. It said this includes US government agencies, public sector entities, and contractors.
Platform scope
Semantic Intelligence sits in the data security governance segment. Concentric AI described the platform as covering discovery, categorisation, and remediation. The company also linked the product to controls for GenAI-related data security.
In a statement, the company set out its rationale for the GovCloud deployment option. It said the deployment keeps data inside a customer's isolated environment.
"With this support for private scanning within AWS GovCloud, organizations in the public sector can leverage our platform's robust discovery, categorization, remediation, and GenAI data security capabilities to manage and secure their high-value, mission- and business-critical assets while ensuring data sovereignty," said Dhruv Jhain, VP of Products at Concentric AI. "All data remains within the customer's isolated cloud environment, which is operated by U.S. citizens on U.S. soil."
Concentric AI also outlined how Semantic Intelligence analyses data. It said the platform uses patented AI and focuses on context in both structured and unstructured information.
The company said the approach can identify PII, PCI, and PHI. It also said the platform can detect sensitive information such as intellectual property and critical business documents.
Controls and policies
Concentric AI said the platform produces classifications and access policies. It also said those policies can extend across a customer's wider security stack.
The company described a category-aware data loss prevention feature. It said the feature addresses leakage risks through email and GenAI applications.
Concentric AI also described continuous risk monitoring and remediation. It listed examples of conditions the product is designed to handle, including excessive permissions, risky sharing, unclassified data, misclassified data, data held in the wrong location, and anomalous behaviour related to data.
Concentric AI said Private Scan Manager for AWS GovCloud is available in the Semantic Intelligence platform.
