OmniOn Power unveils Pulsar 200 for secure DC power control
OmniOn Power has introduced its Pulsar 200 controller, a modular platform aimed at enhancing monitoring and control of DC power systems for telecom, data centre, and industrial operators. The controller supports both new installations and retrofits, providing advanced management and security capabilities for increasingly complex power infrastructure.
Platform design
The Pulsar 200 employs a modular hardware approach, using hot-swappable modules that connect directly or via CAN bus. This design allows upgrades with minimal disruption. Operators can tailor configurations and scale across sites, from small remote locations to larger centralised facilities. The platform integrates edge intelligence for optimising energy use and delivers always-on connectivity through dual gigabit WAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and optional 4G/5G.
Security features
Security is central to the Pulsar 200, which includes a suite of features meeting IEC 62443-4-2 and FIPS 140-3 standards. Secure Boot, hardware-backed encryption, EdgeLock protection, and role-based access controls are built in. The platform is designed for secure edge operation, reflecting increased concerns about cyber risks in distributed infrastructure.
Remote monitoring
The controller includes an optional integrated remote monitoring function. This aggregates data from equipment such as HVAC, generators, automatic transfer switches, meters, and sensors across more than 100 supported device types. All information is available through a single interface, supporting reduced service visits and faster troubleshooting.
Energy management
Adaptive intelligence functions within the Pulsar 200 provide advanced monitoring for power assets. Features include smart rectifier load sharing, battery health monitoring, and solar maximum power point tracking. Operators can use these tools to extend equipment life and reduce both operational costs and carbon emissions.
User interface
The system is deployed with a 5-inch colour touchscreen, which provides guided setup, real-time schematics, and live dashboards. This is designed to simplify both installation and ongoing site management.
Retrofit support
The Pulsar 200 is also available as a retrofit kit. This enables operators to upgrade existing Infinity-M, Infinity-S, and BPS systems without replacing wiring. The option aims to modernise the installed base and address operational as well as cybersecurity needs in legacy equipment.
"When we designed the Pulsar 200 controller, we set out to rethink how DC power systems are managed by moving beyond monitoring and control to a platform that intelligently adapts as operations and assets evolve," said Mark Haisler, Chief Technology Officer, OmniOn Power.
