Proxmox has expanded its enterprise support to 24/7 coverage and launched a North American subsidiary in Canada, extending its direct support reach for customers worldwide and across North America.

The new subsidiary, Proxmox North America, is based in Kingston, Ontario. It will handle sales, contract administration, procurement support and business-hours technical support across North American time zones, while remaining part of the wider support and engineering organisation led from Vienna.

The round-the-clock support service will begin on October 19. The expansion follows growth in Proxmox's installed base to more than 2.3 million active Proxmox Virtual Environment servers worldwide, alongside stronger demand from customers in cloud, healthcare, government, finance and other enterprise sectors.

Under the revised support structure, Premium customers will receive 24/7 cover as part of their existing plan, including unlimited support tickets, a two-hour prioritised response and escalation processes for critical production outages. Standard customers will gain 24/7 access during a later onboarding window in the fourth quarter of 2026, while Basic service levels will remain unchanged.

The service will cover Proxmox Virtual Environment, Proxmox Backup Server and Proxmox Datacenter Manager. It will also include offline updates and key activation for regulated and air-gapped environments.

North America presence

The Kingston operation is intended to give customers and partners in the United States and Canada a local commercial base. It will also support invoicing and procurement in both USD and CAD under a common-law framework.

Bill Hughes has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Proxmox North America. He has spent more than a decade working in open-source infrastructure and enterprise IT, including deployments of large-scale virtualisation systems.

Tim Marx, Chief Operating Officer of Proxmox, linked the support expansion to customer demand for direct vendor coverage beyond local office hours.

"This is a natural next step," said Tim Marx, Chief Operating Officer of Proxmox Server Solutions. "Our support team has grown significantly over the last few years, and demand from customers across sectors including cloud, healthcare, government, education and finance has been consistent: they want direct, vendor-backed, around-the-clock support that doesn't depend on local business hours. Making 24/7 a standard part of our enterprise offering is the logical move. It removes one of the last reasons organisations hesitate to put open-source infrastructure at the core of their production stack."

Support structure

Proxmox's global support team now works beyond Austrian business hours, while local teams handle non-critical issues during their own working day. Basic subscribers should also see shorter response cycles in practice, even though their formal service level agreement does not change.

The North American business will also work with channel partners, including certified resellers, through joint pre-sales work and local service delivery. Certified training and expert guidance form part of that remit.

Existing customer contracts will remain in place. North American customers will be able to transfer to the Canadian subsidiary at their next renewal in 2027, with no immediate changes required.

Product development and core engineering will remain in Vienna. Proxmox also plans to increase investment in its certified reseller network in North America to make it easier for partners to buy support plans and combine them with local services.

Hughes described the Kingston operation as part of a single global support organisation rather than a separate regional function.

"The Kingston team is an integrated part of the global Proxmox support organization," said Bill Hughes, Chief Executive Officer of Proxmox North America. "It provides North American customers with a local entity for procurement and contracts, a team on your clock for day-to-day engagements across Eastern through Pacific, and a direct line into the same engineering bench that supports Proxmox globally."

Proxmox said more than 60,000 enterprises worldwide hold active support plans through the company, which also works with more than 3,000 integration partners.
